Two sculptures depict the Sun and water in a future technological environment as abstract forms. ‘The Sun’, structured in slim aluminium, tracks the movement of the real Sun in artificial blue light. ‘The Water’ is a thin metal sheet which moves like the surface of the ocean. In Genesis 1:1-6, these two elements were the first things in the world God created on the first day. Inspired by ‘The Last Question’ by Isaac Asimov, my work uses two opposing perspectives—science and religion—to create a fictional world of technological nature. The work imagines that the digital environment will become as real as human nature, so there will be another ‘first day’ with a new creation of the sun and the water, our most non-digital elements.
