6 Lights is a light installation based on the documentary ‘Bitter Lake’ by Adam Curtis. It argues that Western politicians have manufactured a simplified story about Islam into a “good vs. “evil” argument, informed by and a reaction to Western society’s increasing chaos and disorder, which they neither grasp nor understand. The installation consists of 6 light copper tube is firmly and strongly structured however it is also fragile as it connected with elastic wire. Based on architecture structure, ‘tensegrity’, the work gives atmospheric and spatial experience of the story of the documentary. As a background sound, the women narrator says ‘Love, Peace, War and God is great’ in Arabic. As western countries have intervened without the understanding of Islam’s cultural basis, I recorded phrases in Arabic with the most popular and cultural phrase.
